FLAGSTAFF, (AZ) – February 24, 2023 – HOKA NAZ Elite has announced the signing of an official sponsorship renewal with its longtime online training platform partner, Final Surge. The deal ensures that for an eighth straight year NAZ Elite coaches and athletes will communicate, and log every single run, through Final Surge. In addition, the NAZ Elite coaching staff will continue to produce training plans that will be available for purchase on the Final Surge website, and app.
Since 2016, when the team began working with Final Surge, NAZ Elite athletes have won 62 races, 11 national titles, produced 11 top-10 finishes at World Marathon Majors, competed in eight World Championship races, won two international medals, and competed at the 2020 Olympic Games.
Meanwhile, Final Surge has continued to build upon its product and enhance the experience for both coaches and athletes. The site now offers more flexibility and customization than ever before. Using the Final Surge workout builder, athletes can now sync or export planned workouts to platforms like like Garmin Connect, STRYD, TrainerRoad and ZWIFT. To help keep injuries at bay, they can track pain location, level, duration and patterns using the Final Surge PAIR report, and share that report with their coach. They can identify time spent in specific exertion zones to fine-tune each training session and track progress through pace, heart rate, power, cadence and other metrics. And the ability for coaches and athletes to discuss individual sessions via the workout comments function remains seamless.
HOKA NAZ Elite founder and executive director, Ben Rosario, said he admires the constant innovation and values the team’s relationship with Final Surge and what the platform has meant to its coaches and athletes.
“Each and every day for the last seven years, our athletes have received their training via Final Surge,” Rosario said. “Having everything on one incredibly easy-to-use platform, we can now go back in the blink of an eye and look at any training segment we want, in detail, and glean the data we need as we continually try to improve.”
Final Surge co-founder Tim Surface added his thoughts on the partnership.
“It’s been a true pleasure partnering with HOKA NAZ Elite these past few years so it’s exciting for us to continue this relationship and help support the team as they continue to build upon their previous successes,” Surface said. “We love the way they represent the sport and give back to the running community.”
HOKA NAZ Elite assistant coach Jenna Wrieden, along with Rosario, has created two new NAZ Elite training plans available for purchase on Final Surge. The NAZ Elite Sub-3 Hour Marathon Plan is geared toward anyone trying to break the 3-hour barrier, and uses appropriately scaled versions of the classic workouts that NAZ Elite marathoners have been using for nearly a decade. The NAZ Elite Strength Plan is an 18-week versatile exercise routine that will help athletes stay dedicated to keeping their bodies strong, mobile, and healthy. All told, the team offers 13 different plans ranging from high school cross country to a super advance marathon plan featuring the exact training of its professional athletes.
The HOKA NAZ Elite roster is currently the largest it has ever been, featuring 18 athletes specializing in everything from the mile to the marathon. The team has veteran road racing stars like U.S. Olympian Aliphine Tuliamuk, Great Britain’s Alice Wright, New Zealand’s Matt Baxter, and U.S. national champions Stephanie Bruce, Kellyn Taylor, Paige Wood, and Futsum Zienasellassie. It’s younger track-focused athletes include former NCAA champions Krissy Gear, Olin Hacker, and Wesley Kiptoo, as well as Abby Nichols, Katie Wasserman and Adriaan Wildschutt.
